
Join our team as a Capitol or District office intern!
This internship offers students a unique opportunity to participate in and experience the work of a State Assembly Office. Applicants must commit to at least 10 hours per week between Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
Responsibilities:
Capitol Internship
Capitol interns will gain experience conducting legislative research on bills and policy issues, analyzing proposed legislation, and preparing briefing materials. They will have the opportunity to attend committee hearings, legislative briefings, and stakeholder meetings to observe the legislative process firsthand. Capitol interns may also have the opportunity to partake in special projects in communications.
District Internship
District interns will serve as a bridge between constituents and their state government. They will gain hands-on experience in assisting with the office’s daily operations while supporting constituents with inquiries involving state agencies. District interns will have the opportunity to staff community events, as well as conduct research on local issues affecting the AD-52 community. District interns may also have the opportunity to partake in special projects in communications.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is a rising High School junior or senior; or is enrolled in or is a graduate of an undergraduate or community college program. Additionally, the following qualifications are critical:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Critical thinking and creative problem solving
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines simultaneously
Benefits:
Interns are compensated at $20 per hour for a maximum of 35 hours per week. Interns may also qualify for school/university credit.
